Southwark Council’s Cabinet has approved the second tranche of Local CIL Projects to be funded.
The projects approved for funding (all chosen from ideas suggested by the public) are in the following 11 wards:
If your suggestion or favoured project is in one of these wards but isn’t included in the report it means it hasn’t been recommended for funding.
However, it’s still possible that your project could be funded from a different council budget (such as the Cleaner, Greener, Safer fund) or from a future round of Local CIL funding.
On Tuesday 8 December Southwark Council’s Cabinet will make a decision on the first tranche of Local CIL Projects to be funded.
The projects recommended for funding (all chosen from ideas suggested by the public) are in the following 12 wards:
If your suggestion or favoured project is in one of these wards but isn’t included in the report it means it hasn’t been recommended for funding.
However, it’s still possible that your project could be funded from a different council budget (such as the Cleaner, Greener, Safer fund) or from a future round of Local CIL funding.
Projects recommended for funding from the remaining 11 wards will go to Cabinet for a decision on 19 January 2021.
Since the summer, our Local CIL Officers have been busy evaluating your ideas.
In total, we received more than 1,000 suggestions for projects across our 23 wards. Officers have been discussing these with your local ward councillors, as well as colleagues from other departments, in order to draw-up a shortlist of those projects to recommend for funding.
The first tranche of recommended projects will go to the council's Cabinet for a decision on 8 December.
The next set of projects to be recommended for funding (from other wards) will be considered by Cabinet in the New Year.
If your project is one of those going to Cabinet in December, you will hear from your Local CIL officer, shortly. If your suggestion is in one of the wards being considered by Cabinet but you don’t hear anything back from your Local CIL Officer by the end of November then, unfortunately, it means your project is not being put forward to Cabinet.
However, it is still possible that your project could be funded from a different council budget (such as the Cleaner, Greener, Safer fund) or from a future round of Local CIL funding.
We will update you on which projects will be taken to Cabinet by 30 November.
Since we launched our CIL website on 9 March, we’ve had more than 160 suggestions for how we could spend the £6m of Community Infrastructure Levy money available for your community projects.
But we’d still welcome more ideas!
And, because of the disruption caused by COVID-19, we've now extended the deadline (which was originally 30 April) to 31 May 2020 .
So, if you have another suggestion for a project or if you know of a community group or someone else who does, you've now got a whole extra month to pin your ideas on the map. Visit the Southwark CIL homepage to get started
